Na jaře roku 1986 vychází nové album Triumph The Sport Of Kings. Začíná nová etapa kapel, stále jde o hard rock, ale vše začíná být více učesané, dá se říci že se kapela začala ubírat směrem Journey.
Po klasickém razantním úvodu Tears In The Rain následuje pompézní hit Somebody's Out There. Dvě krásné balady If Only a Just One Night, do sedmdesátých let se vracející Hooked On You. Zbytek alba patří nadstandardnímu AOR.
