| Vlastní kompilace Styx na jedno CD v délce 78 a půl minuty. Myslel jsem, že je nemožné vybrat to úplně nej od nich na jeden jediný disk tak, aby tam bylo to pro mě asi nejpodstatnější. Ale nakonec to šlo. Samozřejmě, pár skvělých pecek a velkých hitů chybí (za všechny zmíním alespoň titulní skladbu z The Grand Illusion). Přednost nakonec dostali kultovní favoriti. Přitom zvláště ta druhá jmenovaná je (imho) masterpiece. (Podle mě nejlepší skladba podepsaná Curulewskim.) Ani o něco známější kousky jako např. "Southern Woman", "Born for Adventure", "Half-Penny, Two-Penny" nebo "I'm O.K." na výběrech obvykle nebývají. Ale jsou to perly. Řek bych, že tahle kompilace by si název The Best of Styx zasloužila. |

| Tzn. člověk, který má ve sbírce pouze původní UK vydání řadových alb, by těch níže vypsaných 13 skladeb (+ 2 alternativní verze) neměl teoreticky znát vůbec, pokud ve své sbírce nemá navíc různé kompilace, singly, EP a nebo ty věci nezná z médií, případně z youtube. |

| Právě proto jsem si koupil prvních dvanáct alb Kinks v remasterovaných vydáních s bonusy, takže mi od nich z let 1964 - 1974 nechybí vůbec nic. A to jsem bohatě využil na té kompilaci. "Mr. Pleasant" není hudebně špatná věc. Ale podobných kousků mají víc. Třeba "A Well Respected Man", kterou tam mám. U "Mr. Pleasant" mi popravdě nikdy moc nešmakoval ten text. | Je pravda, že mnoho z nejlepších skladeb Kinks nejsou na žádném z řadových alb. Až na remasterovaných albech v podobě bonusů. Například jednu z mých oblíbených skladeb Mr. Pleasant nemám na řadovkách nikde. |

| Tak já jsem to pojal jako jako průřez první dekádou jejich tvorby. U toho výběru vůbec nezáleželo na albech, ale čistě na samotných písničkách. Výsledný souhrn, kolik věcí jsem použil z jakého alba, jsem zjistil až už bylo hotovo. Navíc 13 těch věcí není na žádném původním řadovém UK albu. (Přísně vzato je jich dokonce 15, protože u dvou skladeb jsem použil singlové verze, které na originálních UK albech v teto podobě nebyly.) Je to prostě čistě o písničkách. |

| Já dávám přednost řadovým album od Face To Face po Lolu a pak od Sleepwalker po tu poslední. Ale je fakt, že z druhého období některé věci přeskakuju. |

| Pro příznivce a znalce Kinks, tady je moje 2CD kompilace z let 1964 - 1974, obsahující přesně 50 songů. Musel jsem na ní udělat pár kompromisů, takže chybí možná několik dobrých kousků z alba Something Else by The Kinks, ale asi nejvíc mě mrzí, že jsem musel vyhodit skladbu "Last of the Steam-Powered Trains". Kdybych ji použil, pro její délku už by se tam nevešel padesátý song. A já mám rád zaokrouhlená čísla. Navíc jsem chtěl tu padesátku využít i v názvu kompilace. Ale i tak, z alba The Kinks Are the Village Green Preservation Society, ze kterého ta skladba pochází, jsem zařadil celých devět kousků. Což je opravdu hodně.
